At least 600 women in Molo, Nakuru County have undergone training on inheritance and succession rights, as part of the International Women’s Day celebrations.

The attendees were provided with resources on how to assert their rights and secure their inheritance.

“It is important to address the social, economic and cultural hurdles that elderly and widowed women face in society,” a member of the legal team facilitating the exercise said.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi’s spouse, Tessie Mudavadi called on the community not to discriminate against elderly and widowed women.

The day also marked a call to action for accelerating gender parity in line with the global campaign theme of embracing equity.

“The training sessions were interactive. We are now informed and are able to understand the legal framework around inheritance and succession rights,” a resident said.
“We have shared our experiences and gained knowledge from one another. We now know the importance of succession planning,” another added.
