Businesswoman Zari Hassan was not expecting anything out of the ordinary at work, but her son Pinto had other plans.
The Ugandan-born socialite and businesswoman, best known internationally as Diamond Platnumz’s baby mama, was caught completely off guard when Pinto walked into what appears to be the reception area of Brooklyn City College, the institution she has led since 2008, to kick off her 46th birthday celebrations early.
“You tricked me. You tricked me,” a visibly emotional Zari laughed as colleagues and staff members surrounded her with warm wishes.
The moment was captured on video and quickly made the rounds online, melting hearts across social media. Colleagues honour Zari’s years of leadership The surprise did not stop with Pinto’s appearance.
Members of staff took turns addressing Zari, thanking her for the role she has played in building the college over nearly two decades.
“We wanna all just thank you for your leadership. We thank you for building BCC since 2008, you know, you’ve been proud each and every single one of us. And we just, we appreciate you and we are proud of you and we will follow you till the end of the earth,” one colleague said to cheers and amens from the room.
Another staff member added birthday prayers to the mix:
“We thank the Lord for your life. We pray that gives you more life and more wisdom.”
The tributes painted a picture of a woman who commands deep respect from the people around her, not just as a public figure but as an employer and institution builder.
The video, which also featured a promotional graphic for Zari’s official birthday dinner event, wrapped up with warm laughter and gratitude from the birthday girl herself.
