Police in Nakuru have arrested 10 suspects linked to criminal gangs which have been terrorizing residents within the informal settlements of Kaptembwa, Rhonda and Flamingo among others.

Addressing media outside Nakuru Central police station, Nakuru County police Commander Samuel Ndanyi said that the suspects were arrested in a sting operation conducted by security officers on Monday night where they were caught in possession of crude weapons.

“We recovered knives, toy pistols, bhang and other items. We are still continuing the operation and we seek to arrest more suspects,” he said.

“We are grateful to the locals for volunteering information that has immensely helped us to nab the suspects, we call upon the residents to continue cooperating with the officers to rid of the menace,” he said.

Ndanyi said that they are continuously enhancing community policing activities to ensure that neighbourhoods are safer for people to move freely without fear of being attacked.

Meanwhile, the suspects are set to be arraigned in court on Wednesday to face charges of engaging in criminal activities.
