The national passport delivery will continue into the third week, with 11,278 passports ready for collection from Monday, October 9, to Friday, October 13, according to the Interior Ministry.
The total number of passports available in Nairobi next week is 5616, 1505 in Mombasa, and 1400 in Kisumu.
The Interior Ministry announced earlier this week that a total of 15,400 passports were ready for collection, as the Ministry worked its way through a backlog of over 87,000 passports.
In Nairobi, 7,501 passports were available for collection, while 1,166 were available in Mombasa, 1,602 in Kisumu, and 1,000 in Nakuru.
Other regional offices where the passports are to be collected within the week are Eldoret (1,543), Kisii (1,500) and Embu (1,088)
22353 passports were ready for collection in Nairobi and other regional offices during the first week of the RRI.
In three weeks, data from the Interior Ministry showed the backlog had been cleared by 49,031 passports.
The ministry says that in the next five weeks–a list will be published every Wednesday–and citizens will be alerted to where to pick up ready passports through various mainstream and social media platforms.
The passports that are ready for pickup are listed on the immigration website, along with the serial number, tracking number, full customer name, and collection date.
Kindiki has warned that passports issued must be collected within 30 days or they will be destroyed.
These measures come after an outcry to fix Nyayo House, where the immigration offices are located.
Citizens have long complained about missing out on opportunities due to delays in passport processing.
The cabinet secretary has since made several visits to the premises to oversee this backlog clearance directive.
