14 police officers are still nursing injuries after they were pelted with stones during the three-day anti-government demonstrations in Siaya County.
According to Siaya County Police Commander Michael Muchiri, the officers were treated and discharged after they sustained the injuries between Wednesday and Friday.
The police boss revealed that during the protests, 14 members of the public sustained gunshots and out of the 14 people, 3 died, 10 were treated and discharged while only one is currently admitted at the Bondo sub-county hospital.
Clinical Officer in charge of the outpatient department at Bondo sub-county hospital Stephen Okumu stated that on Wednesday, they received 6 casualties out of which one was referred to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral hospital (JOOTRH) in Kisumu and another one to Siaya County referral hospital while the rest were treated and discharged.
He said there is only one gunshot victim who is still admitted at the Bondo sub-county hospital after his leg was amputated.
Okumu disclosed that on Thursday they also received four cases which were managed and the patients discharged, adding that on Friday they received another four cases but one died while undergoing treatment.
The Nurse in charge of the surgical ward at Bondo sub-county hospital Susan Owuor confirmed that they had three admissions of gunshot victims at the facility out of which one succumbed, one still admitted and one, a 17-year-old Form One student, already discharged.
