A rescue mission for a 14-year-old girl who accidentally fell inside a pit latrine in Ahero town, Nyando sub-county is currently underway.

The teenage girl had gone to relieve herself on Tuesday morning when the pit latrine caved in.

Tura Sub-location Assistant Chief Lillian Otieno says the matter was complicated when the latrine slab also fell on her.

Chief Otieno says police officers and locals in Ahero are using an exhauster to help rescue her.

Chief Otieno says they are hopeful that she will be rescued alive.
