As the probe on the June 25 anniversary protests ensues, 141 more suspects were arraigned in different courts across the nation.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported that 85 suspects were presented before the Thika Law Courts – 56 suspects from Juja Police Station and 29 from Thika Police Station.

Similarly, 32 suspects were arraigned before the courts in Murang’a, 15 suspects in Ol Kalou, 10 in Kisii, and 9 in Bungoma.

“Additionally, in Ruiru, another suspect appeared virtually before the Ruiru Law Courts,” said DCI.

This came as police in Ruiru, Kiambu County, recovered assorted items believed to have been looted from Quickmart Supermarket during the protests.

One suspect, Geoffrey Mbugua, accused of storing the stolen goods, was arrested and is expected to be arraigned.

The goods were found stored in premises owned by Mbugua, one of the 154 suspects arrested over the recent looting. He was also found in possession of 42 litres of ethanol and counterfeit cigarettes.

Police say the dragnet is far from over, with the hunt still on for other suspects, including those accused of stealing firearms from Dagoretti Police Station.
