Police in Embakasi area on Monday rescued 16 children who were being held in a house in Soweto, Kayole.

According to a police report seen by Citizen Digital, the report was made by Daniel Odongo, a children protection officer in Embakasi Central constituency.

Odongo informed the police of the presence of the children in a plot within Nyando area, and police made a move, arresting a Kenyan identified as Linet Akinyi and a Tanzanian national named Isaack Mwanjeka.

The two could not explain what the children were doing in their custody. The minors were housed in a two-roomed rental house.

Police suspect the children were meant to be trafficked to an unknown location. Investigations have commenced as the two suspects remain in custody.
