Detectives have apprehended two suspects in possession of stolen materials belonging to Kenya Power and Lighting Company as the fight against the rampant vandalism of electricity infrastructure intensifies.

The suspects, identified as Jennifer Njeri, 46, and William Mwangi, 26, were apprehended at Busman Investments Ltd, a scrap metal trading company located in Kitengela, Kajiado County.

The operation was carried out by detectives as part of an ongoing initiative to curb the illegal activities of vandals targeting critical electricity infrastructure.

A statement released by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) shed light on the successful operation.

The recovered materials, including three-phase service line drop cables, fuses, transformer switches, and aluminium conductors, are believed to have been vandalized by Kenya Power & Lighting Company installations.

“Further to the ongoing operation targeting vandals of electricity infrastructure, two suspects are behind bars after detectives recovered from their possession assorted materials belonging to the Kenya Power & Lighting Company,” the statement read.
