Two people have been apprehended following a coordinated anti-narcotics operation by the National Police Service (NPS) targeting drug supply networks in Nairobi and Makueni counties.

In a statement shared on its official X account on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, the NPS said the operation was carried out on February 24 and led to the disruption of two major bhang distribution chains.

In Nairobi, undercover officers drawn from the Regional Headquarters arrested one person of interest who was found in possession of 268 rolls of bhang. The narcotics had been hidden inside a suitcase.

Police believe the consignment originated from Busia and was being transported to Kitengela, where it was expected to be distributed.

In Makueni County, a joint security team carried out an operation at a shop in the Kambu area of Mtito Andei. During the raid, officers seized 108 kilograms of bhang suspected to have been destined for distribution within the area and to other markets outside the region.

According to the NPS, both individuals were taken into custody as investigations continue. The recovered bhang is being held securely at police stations as officers prepare the necessary documentation ahead of their arraignment in court.

“The National Police Service remains committed to the fight against narcotics and to protecting citizens from the dangers posed by narcotics and the illicit alcohol trade,” the NPS stated.

The latest operation comes amid sustained efforts by security agencies to dismantle drug networks that have continued to target urban centres and transit towns across the country.
