Two police officers accused of robbing three businessmen Ksh5 million in US dollars and a kilogram of gold worth Ksh6 million have been apprehended.
The arrests were made after an investigation following a complaint filed by the businessmen.
It is said that the officers attached to Kilimani police station and Muthangari police station arrested the businessmen in Syokimau on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.
The victims claimed that the officers who were armed with pistols and rifles confronted them along Katani road in Syokimau. At the time, they were arrested and driven to Kilimani police station without any reason for their arrest. When they arrived at Kilimani police station the officers failed to book them.
When they realised that the officers were not getting back to the station, the trio left the station and reported the matter at Mlolongo police station.
Nairobi county police commander Adamson Bungei assured the trio that police will take action against the officers in accordance with the law.
“This is an isolated case. The matter is being dealt with in accordance with the law,” he noted.
Additionally, the police boss noted that they suspect that the cops have previously been involved in crime reiterating that stern action will be taken against them. He said the cops will be charged with robbery with violence.
