Violent suspects tracked down

“Following the attack on Hon. Peter Kaluma at Agoro Sare Primary School polling station during the Kasipul Constituency by-election yesterday, 27th November 2025, police launched an intensive manhunt for the suspected perpetrators,” the NPS stated.

During the operation, officers intercepted five vehicles and two motorcycles.

“Police recovered ten pangas, five knives, along with rungus and stones,” the statement read.

The NPS statement also added that two teargas canisters were found among the exhibits, raising further concern over the level of planned violence.

All the suspects have since been placed in police custody as investigations continue.

Commitment to secure elections

Police said the arrested individuals will be arraigned in court as authorities seek to establish their role in the chaos that marred the by-election.

“The National Police Service reiterates its unwavering commitment to ensuring peaceful, secure, and transparent electoral processes across the country,” the statement added, warning that such acts of violence will not be tolerated.

The Service further noted that similar intensified operations will continue nationwide to deter crime, protect citizens, and maintain law and order before, during, and after elections.

The incident has renewed calls for tighter security at polling stations, as Kenyans demand accountability and safety during democratic processes.
