25-year-old man arrested in connection with spate of murders in Isiolo

Police in Isiolo are holding a 25-year-old man over links to a spate of murders in the county.

In a statement on Friday, May 19, the National Police Service (NPS) said Ltoria alias “Kashuru” was arrested following a sting operation by a multi-agency Special Operations team in Sereolipi.

According to the police, the suspect, who is being held at Isiolo GK Prison, is linked to a fatal shooting incident in Kom, a murder incident at Loruko Police Post and a robbery with violence incident last year.

The crimes are said to have been reported at Merti Police Station, Isiolo Police Station and Archers Post Police Station respectively.

The police said the suspect has since pleaded guilty to the charge of robbery with violence charge and is set to be arraigned in court on May 30 to face other charges.

“The suspect has ‘pleaded not guilty’ to a robbery charge. He has been remanded at Isiolo GK Prison, awaiting Mention on 30th May 2023 when other charges will be preferred,” NPS said.

In a separate incident on Friday, police in Nandi have arrested one person for the offence of brewing illicit alcohol.

The suspect was arrested following a crackdown by a multi-agency team that raided a homestead in Nandi Hills Township.

The teams managed to recover 340 bottles of assorted brands of suspected alcohol, empty bottles, bottle tops and fake Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) excise stamps.

“The samples await further analysis by Kenya Bureau of Standards and Kenya Revenue Authority,” police added.
