A match between Kisii’s Shabana FC and Mombasa Elite that was set to be played today, Thursday came to a premature end following a heavy downpour experienced at Gusii Stadium.

The game was halted at the halftime break after the National Super League match officials unanimously agreed with the two teams to carry forward the match to Friday at noon.

By the time when the match was being halted, the scoreline was a 1-1 draw.

James Ongeri who was the match commissioner said that the match will proceed from the second half tomorrow.

“After assessing the situation we decided to cancel the 2nd half of the match and push it to tomorrow when we shall proceed with the second half of the game at the same venue from noon. All the stakeholders agreed with the decision  which has been occasioned by the heavy downpour,” Ongeri said.

The postponement will allow the teams to breathe a sigh of relief as the long break will allow them to reflect on their performance as they look to secure maximum points from the fixture.
