Police have arrested three men who allegedly gang-defiled a 10-year-old minor and stuffed her private parts with old clothes and tissue papers in Bamburi, Mombasa.
According to a police report seen by the suspects, Immanuel Cheruiyot, Tesotalias Manu and Haman Osewe Otieno sexually assaulted the minor in turns at an abandoned rooftop of a building located in Bamburi’s Fisheries area.
Cheruiyot, who runs a barbershop in the same building, is said to have lured his victim while she was playing with her 3-year-old sister who at the time of the incident had been tied to a post.
In her statement to the police dated February 5, the minor said after Cheruiyot was done he asked his co-worker, Manu, to also assault her as the third suspect (Osewe) kept watch at the main entrance of the building.
“These people are well known to me. I was playing outside when he (Cheruiyot) asked my sister and I to go and play with them on the rooftop of a neighbouring building. He held my hand and that of my sibling and we went to the rooftop. He then tied her to a post as he defiled me,” the victim said.
“I screamed but no one heard me,” she added.
According to the minor’s sister, the victim was found unconscious on the rooftop of the building with her younger sibling having fallen asleep beside her.
A medical report released by the Coast General Hospital showed that the minor had been defiled, adding that she suffered injuries on her private parts.
