At least 30 people were injured after an Ena Coach bus they were travelling in was involved in an accident at Segecha area on the Nakuru-Kericho Highway on Tuesday, July 4, 2023.
Confirming the incident, Kuresoi North Sub-county Police Commander Judah Gathenge said the bus, which was heading to Usenge from Nairobi, overturned near Mau Summit interchange.
The bus was ferrying 37 Students from 16 different schools, 14 civilians and five children. Most of the victims were students who were heading to school after their mid-term break.
The police boss said the survivors were rushed to Londiani Hospital, where they are receiving treatment.
Londiani crash
The accident comes just a few days after a tragic accident occurred at Londiani junction, claiming 52 lives.
The tragedy involved a truck that was travelling from Nakuru en route to Kericho before it lost control and rammed into several matatus, private vehicles and motorcycles before landing in a ditch.
The truck also crashed into hawkers selling roasted maize, vegetables, cabbages and oranges by the roadside on the Muhoroni, claiming the lives of some.
The accident happened around 7 pm on Friday, June 30, 2023.
Rift Valley regional commissioner Abdi Hassan, confirmed the tragic accident stating that 48 lives were lost at the scene, while others passed on while receiving medical treatment.
Londiani Police Boss Agnes Kunga stated that dozens of those injured had been rushed to various hospitals including Londiani, Molo Sub-county and Nakuru Level Five hospitals.
