Police, in collaboration with the provincial administration, have launched an investigation into the death of a 37-year-old man killed in a suspected love triangle in North East Kadem, Nyatike Sub County, on March 31, 2025.
Area Chief Voshastar Akal stated that the deceased, identified as Kevin Ouma, and the murder suspect, Johnson Ochieng—who also sustained serious panga wounds—were allegedly fighting over a married woman.
According to Akal, the two men met at the woman’s house, where they had both reportedly been involved in secret intimate affairs. The altercation broke out on the night of March 31, 2025.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased had arranged to meet the woman at her home that night.

Armed with crude weapons, the two men fought, during which Ouma was stabbed in the chest and succumbed to his injuries. The suspect also sustained severe injuries and is currently hospitalized at Migori Level Four Hospital.
Chief Akal added that the deceased’s family stormed the woman’s home and set her house on fire. The woman, who is married, has a husband working outside Migori County.
