Residents of Suna East Sub County and neighboring areas like Awendo have expressed grave concerns over a criminal gang known as the “42 Brothers” operating in Migori County.
These worries have intensified following a recent incident where gang members hacked two individuals, including a teacher, who were tracking stolen cattle in the Suna-Kwa location of Suna East Sub County.
The community is urging security officers in Suna East Sub County to promptly dismantle the gang. Mr. Evance Achola, the Chief of Suna Kwa location, confirmed the gang’s involvement in the attack on the two individuals who were pursuing stolen cattle from Arambe sub location.
He reported that the police have arrested six gang members since the incident on Friday, and the crackdown on the gang continues.
Chief Achola highlighted that the gang comprises a larger network of young boys aged between 17 and 20 years, operating in a well-coordinated manner.
While the public has been largely supportive of the authorities’ efforts to combat the gang, a few community members, who are relatives of the gang members, have been less cooperative.
