The body of a 60-year-old woman was on Tuesday found floating on a water pan in Nyandiwa village in Alego/Usonga, Siaya County.

According to Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo, the body of the woman who has been identified as Pamela Atieno Omunya was discovered by members of the public who had gone to draw water from the water pan.

The police boss said the deceased was last seen by her sister Irene Adhiambo with whom they had supper together on Monday night before she remained sleeping at her home in Osumba village within the neighbouring sub-location called Randago.

The woman’s relatives were however shocked when her lifeless body was later found floating on the water pan several kilometres from her home.

Mr Kimaiyo said the body, which was retrieved from the water with the help of members of the public had no physical injuries.

The body has since been moved to Siaya County Referral Hospital mortuary pending postmortem to ascertain the cause of death.
