A 66-year-old man has been arrested in Mumias, Kakamega County, after his son was found murdered at their home. Maudin Shibokara Mutende, 22, was discovered lying in a pool of blood on Tuesday in Mwitawa village. He had an electric wire tied around his neck, which is suspected to have been used to strangle him, and a deep cut on his forehead, likely from a sharp object.
The father was detained after locals reported that he had quarreled with Mutende the previous day and had chased him away with a panga, threatening to kill him. The body was taken to Kakamega General Referral Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem.
In a separate incident in the Mowlem area, Dandora, a man was found dead after being assaulted by unknown attackers. He had previously sought medical help at Mama Lucy Hospital for head injuries and was discharged, only to be found dead along Outering Road the following morning. Preliminary reports suggest he had a swollen face, possibly from being hit with a blunt object. The body was moved to the mortuary for an autopsy.
Additionally, police are investigating the murder of a man stoned to death in Mlolongo, Machakos County. The body, found in a trench with multiple injuries and blood from his head, had no identification documents. The victim is estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old.
