A 70-year-old man is in police custody for allegedly killing his 32-year-old son in Kirinyaga over land wrangles.
Gichugu police commander Johnson Wachira said the suspect, Francis Njagi, was arrested over the incident which happened in Gwama village in Karumandi Ward.
The suspect, who is being held at Kianyaga police station is said to have picked up an argument with his son James Mwobe over a piece of land.
According to the suspect’s wife, Irene Njagi, their son wanted to plant some macadamia on the piece of land.
The argument escalated, with the suspect stabbed his son, who was later pronounced dead on arrival at Kianyaga sub county hospital.
“A neighbor rushed him to hospital following a distress call from the mother to the deceased,” police said.
The body was taken to the Kerugoya Mortuary. Investigations are ongoing after which the suspect will be arraigned.
