Five people have died, and three others were injured in a road accident at Makotelo area along the Webuye-Malaba highway, Bungoma County.
Witnesses at the scene said the accident occurred on Tuesday night, a few minutes before midnight. The accident involved a public service vehicle and a trailer that was heading toward Webuye from Kanduyi.
Bungoma South OCPD William Letting stated that three men and two women died in the crash.
Residents have called upon the relevant authorities to install speed bumps on the road to prevent the rampant accidents.
They also demanded that police officers release four youths who were arrested at the scene over allegations of looting.
