AFC Leopards won’t block any disgruntled player from leaving the den, Club Secretary General Isaac Mulindi has said.
Contract talks between the 12-time league champions and first choice goalkeeper Humphrey Katasi were unfruitful forcing the shot-stopper to shockingly cross over to bitter rivals Gor Mahia last week.
“Let’s stop infighting and allow us to do our work smoothly. I don’t know why we should make noise or panic about player exits.
Let those players who want to leave to do so and those who are ready to play for the badge will remain and life will continue,” he said. “We want to have only those players who have Leopards at heart.”
Mulindi who is in his first term alongside Chairman Boniface Ambani and Treasurer Newton Lime, also said that the team is keen to better their second-place position last term.
He reminded players that the team has always stood firm and stable even with key departures in the past.
“AFC Leopards had top players like J.J Masiga and Mulamba (Wilberforce) but they left and the club kept moving on.
We have taken over as the office and managed to push the club to finish in second place last season. We are not satisfied, so we are very confident of a first-place finish next season,” he added.
Mulindi asked members to instead rally behind the office as it works hard to ensure the league title lands at the den soonest.
“Don’t panic or be under any sort of pressure. When a child goes astray you correct him and he becomes a better child. This is our club and let’s make AFC Leopards much better than how we found it.”
