Three armed men riding a single motorbike allegedly robbed residents in Parklands, Nairobi, in a brazen late-night attack captured on a residential building’s CCTV camera along Suswu Road.
The footage, recorded at around 1 am, shows two residents standing near their gate, chatting casually, when a motorbike with three passengers rides past.
Within two minutes, the men allegedly turn around and approach the pair, with one reportedly jumping off the bike while brandishing a firearm.
What Happened During the Parklands Robbery
One of the victims recounted how quickly the situation turned dangerous.
“I’m with my uncle. We’re just talking. We’re just having a conversation, and I see three guys pull up, right? So, one of them is the driver and two of them are the thieves. One of them hops out,” he said.
He added that the armed man reportedly discharged one round into the air to frighten them before demanding their valuables.
“He has a gun on him and he shoots one bullet, but he doesn’t have the intention to kill us. He misses on purpose to just try to scare us. So, he comes and he’s like, ‘Give us everything you got.’ And then, like, ‘We have no choice but to do that.'”
After taking the victims’ phones and personal belongings, the three men fled, their faces clearly visible in the CCTV footage, apparently unconcerned about being recorded.
The victim said the ordeal left him shaken and angry. “It’s a crazy night. I feel mad, you know, about this. It’s crazy. Something needs to be done about this. You know, they need to be punished. It’s unacceptable.”
Thika Highway Victim Left Unconscious
A separate incident in the same survey area along Thika Highway followed a similar pattern. A victim described being ambushed by two men on a motorbike, one riding and one as a passenger.
“I met with these goons. They were on a bike. One of them was, of course, riding and the other one was behind. There is one who was behind. He stepped up and caught up on me. He really kicked me and left me unconscious after taking everything that is my belongings, my stuff, my phones, my, I could say, all my personal stuff that I had,” he said.
He regained consciousness minutes later, only to discover he had also sustained a knee injury during the assault.
“So after a few minutes, that is when I came back to consciousness. I realised even my knee was badly injured through the process. They command you to give me the phone. Just give the phone. That is the word they could say. Give me your phone.”
All victims said they reported their respective ordeals to police and obtained Occurrence Book numbers following the attacks.
