Nurse Judy is the last person you would expect to be stuck on the side of the road in tears, but that is exactly where the popular US-based Kenyan content creator found herself after a police officer towed her car.

In a video she shared on Facebook, Judy Maina filmed herself stranded roadside near a parking lot, with a DMV office visible just down the street, delivering a tearful, self-deprecating account of everything that had just gone wrong.

She mixed genuine frustration with dark humour as she described being left by the roadside “like a homeless person” after officers impounded her vehicle.

What Happened to Nurse Judy’s car?

According to the video, Judy had pulled into a gas station when an officer flagged her down and directed her to enter a nearby parking lot.

When she approached and tried to negotiate, the officer told her the car had accumulated citations and that the registration had been expired for over six months, making impoundment unavoidable.

“This will be the third time today. Today it’ll be for the same exact violation for people not paying their registration for over six months,” the officer explained in the clip.

Judy pleaded, telling him she was heading straight to the DMV to sort it out, but he held firm: “I can’t start showing bias one way or another, impounding their cars and not impounding yours regardless of the situation.”

With the DMV literally visible from where she was standing, Judy was left stranded, without her car, and facing a bill of KSh 292,000 to resolve the matter.

Why Judy was frustrated

What made the situation even more painful, she said, was the timing. She had only just left home, heading out to pick up a bag, when everything unravelled.

She pointed out that she had not even done her hair or washed her face yet, making the moment of public humiliation feel all the more raw.

“Nimeachwa nikikaa kama homeless kwa roadside,” she said, which translates roughly to “I’ve been left sitting like a homeless person by the roadside.”

She previously made headlines after revealing she can earn around KSh 1.3 million in just six days of nursing work in the US, though she expressed frustration that nearly a third of that amount disappears in taxes.
