Former nominated senator Millicent Omanga and her husband Dr Francis Nyamiobo gave Kenyans a rare glimpse into their private life during a candid appearance on the Obinna Show on September 10, 2026, where the couple looked back on over two decades of marriage.
The pair sat comfortably on a couch set, relaxed and clearly at ease with each other, as they walked the host through the story of how it all began.
It turns out the two crossed paths at a mutual friend’s house party back in January 2003, a meeting neither appears to have forgotten in detail.
How Millicent Omanga and her husband first met
Omanga’s husband recalled the exact moment he laid eyes on her, noting it was around 6.15 pm. Omanga, for her part, remembered that he stammered when they were introduced.
“I remember he stammered; I can’t remember what he stammered,” she said with a laugh.
The couple’s ease and warmth on screen made it clear that 24 years have done little to dull the chemistry between them.
When asked what has kept them going, both pointed to honesty, generosity, humour and a genuine friendship as the glue.
Omanga described her husband as fun and humorous, adding that boredom has never been part of the equation.
“You can’t be bored. You can imagine 24 years now we can be playing treasure quattro,” she said, describing how they still play games together even in public.
The couple also touched on family life, sharing that they have two biological children and adopted a third.
Omanga’s husband on supporting her political career
One of the more touching moments came when Omanga recalled how nervous she was before her very first political rally.
She turned to her husband, unsure of what to say to the crowd. Rather than let the anxiety take over, he calmly told her to breathe first before speaking.
It was a small but telling detail about the kind of partnership they have built over the years.
Her husband, a doctor by profession, explained that he has always been comfortable in the background, even as Omanga built a public profile in the political space.
