Nairobi mother Milkah Karanja is at breaking point after her son Trevor was readmitted to the intensive care unit just weeks after Kenyans rallied to raise KSh 1 million to help the boy settle an earlier hospital bill, with the child’s father reportedly unreachable.
How much was Trevor’s first admission?
On Friday, September 4, 2026, Milkah turned to social media influencer Karangu Muraya, posting a desperate plea on his Facebook page. In the message, she described a situation that had pushed her to the very edge, saying she was overwhelmed and barely coping.
According to Milkah, Trevor’s first admission had produced a bill of over KSh 500,000, which she managed to clear before the two were discharged.
Days later, Trevor’s condition deteriorated again and they were back at the hospital.
Milkah pays KSh 100,000 for Trevor’s admission
By the time she wrote to Karangu Muraya, she had already paid KSh 100,000 for the new admission and borrowed from every available source.
“I feel like losing my mind,” she wrote.
After Karangu Muraya contacted her directly, he confirmed to his followers that Trevor was in the ICU and called on friends and well-wishers to support the family.
Milkah opens up on child with cerebral palsy
Milkah alleged that Trevor’s father had blocked both her and the child across all communication platforms, making it impossible to reach him when the boy’s health collapsed.
She further alleged that on the last occasion she managed to get through to him, he reportedly told her that Trevor should die and that she should not bother informing him.
She also disclosed that another child in her care has cerebral palsy, and that the father had at one point denied paternity of both children.
Milkah conducts DNA on child with cerebral palsy
A DNA test was subsequently conducted and returned a 99% paternity confirmation. Milkah said she had the results in hand and was willing to share them publicly.
She added that years earlier, Trevor had been scheduled to travel to India for specialised medical treatment, but the plan fell through and his passport was left with her.
Six years on, that trip had never materialised. In her message to Karangu Muraya’s audience, Milkah said she had carried the financial burden of the children’s care alone and was now completely without resources.
