Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology is mourning the loss of Regina Nabwire Bwire, a Chemistry lecturer who passed away while receiving treatment at Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu.
Nabwire served in the Department of Chemistry within the School of Natural Sciences at MMUST, where she was known to colleagues and students alike as a dedicated academic.
The Masinde Muliro University Student Teachers Association (MMUSTA) broke the news on Facebook on Thursday, September 3, 2026, describing the moment as one of profound sadness for everyone connected to the institution.
MMUST pays emotional tribute to Nabwire
In their post, the association remembered Nabwire not only as a colleague but as a sister and friend, words that speak to the personal bonds she had built within the university community.
As the university comes to terms with the loss, MMUSTA has called on members of the public to rally around the bereaved family with financial, physical, emotional and spiritual support in the days ahead.
Nabwire will be laid to rest on September 12, 2026, at her home in Wakhungu Village, Funyula, in Busia County.
