Martha Karua’s father, Mwalimu Jackson Karua, passed away on Sunday, September 27, at the family home in Kirinyaga county, leaving the veteran politician and her family in mourning.
The following day, Karua opened her doors to friends and political colleagues who came to offer their sympathies. In a post she shared online, she expressed deep gratitude for the support she received.

“I returned from Kirinyaga this afternoon, and since then, my family and I have been receiving friends who have come to condole with us following the loss of my beloved father,” she wrote.
“The outpouring of condolences, prayers and support has truly meant a great deal to us.”
Images circulating from previous occasions offered a rare look at the house Karua built for her parents in Kirinyaga. The property is a two-storey stone structure built with rough-cut brownish-grey masonry, framed by white multi-pane windows and a neatly finished roof edge.
The entrance features a tall, weathered blue wooden door fitted with glass panes and a brass handle. A second section of the house opens onto a small porch with a black metal railing, adding a modest but dignified character to the building.
The compound reflects careful upkeep, with dense, neatly trimmed green hedges lining the front and leafy trees and bushes filling the background, giving the property a quiet, semi-rural atmosphere.
The grounds are a blend of packed earth, patches of short grass, and scattered stones, with a low light-coloured stone retaining wall running along one side.
The overall impression is of a comfortable, well-maintained family home, a fitting tribute from a daughter to the parents who raised her.
