A Tanzanian actress has come out to apologise after a clip of her struggling with a simple English phrase during a film shoot went viral and had Kenyans in stitches.

The behind-the-scenes footage, captured outdoors on what appears to be a grassy set lined with sugarcane, shows a full production setup complete with a monitor, reflector, umbrella light, and a boom microphone. What was meant to be a routine rehearsal quickly turned into an extended comedy of errors.

In the clip, the actress attempts to deliver the line ‘You know I galla homesick’ alongside TV film director Bayo Vantane, but the phrase comes out so garbled that the crew is forced to keep repeating it.

To help her along, a crew member translates the line into Swahili, “Unajua limepamisi nyumbani,” before they try again in English. Despite several attempts and visible encouragement from those around her, the delivery continues to miss the mark, turning the whole session into an unexpectedly lighthearted moment.

Actress breaks silence after online ridicule

The clip spread quickly across social media, drawing particular attention from Kenyan users who poked fun at her English pronunciation. The actress has since acknowledged the mockery head-on, saying “Wakenya wametucheka sana” loosely translated as “Kenyans have laughed at us a lot.”
