Radio Africa Group and Nairobi Securities Exchange Chairman Kiprono Kittony pulled out all the stops for his daughter Catherine Jepchumba Kittony, chartering his extended family to Cape Town, South Africa, on Saturday, 10 October, for her white wedding to Nigerian businessman Tobi Durotoye.

The ceremony unfolded at the Cavalli Wine and Stud Farm in Stellenbosch, a prestige vineyard estate celebrated for its white parasols, a contemporary art gallery and sweeping views of the Helderberg mountains. The choice of venue set the tone for a celebration that was anything but ordinary.

Catherine and Tobi’s big day

Catherine arrived at the altar in a strapless white mermaid gown featuring a thigh-high cut and a long veil, carrying a bouquet of white and yellow blooms.

Tobi complemented her look in a white tuxedo jacket with a white bow tie and black trousers.

One of the most talked-about moments from the day came in a photo shared by Stella Kittony, which showed Kiprono in a classic black tuxedo walking his daughter down the aisle, both clutching white calla lilies. Stella captioned it:

“Two hearts, one love, and a lifetime of beautiful memories.”

Video clips shared on Instagram Stories, including footage posted by accounts ck_kittony and morenikg_, captured the couple’s grand entrance into a glass-walled reception hall as relatives cheered and reached for their phones.

A DJ and a full videography crew were already in position inside, setting the stage for what appeared to be a lively celebration.

A Pan-African union with deep roots Saturday’s ceremony was actually the second chapter of Catherine and Tobi’s wedding journey.

The couple first tied the knot in a traditional ceremony in Kenya in May 2025, blending Kalenjin and Yoruba customs in a colourful cultural fusion.

At that event, Catherine wore a dark chocolate gown adorned with cowrie shells while Tobi arrived in a brown Agbada.

The groom and his groomsmen lay prostrate before their parents in keeping with Yoruba tradition. Prominent guests at the traditional wedding included Ida Odinga, Winnie Odinga, Gideon Moi and Oscar Sudi.

The Kittony family’s flying the entire extended clan to South Africa underlined just how significant this union is, bringing together the Kittony family from Kenya’s Rift Valley and the Durotoye family from Ibadan, Nigeria.

Some observers had initially confused Catherine’s celebrations with those of her sister Chanelle Kittony, who wed Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang.

Chanelle, who serves as Trans Nzoia County Executive Committee Member for Roads, held her traditional Koito ceremony in November 2025. Catherine’s wedding makes it two major family celebrations within less than a year.
