Monicah Mbiyu, a 24-year-old Egerton University graduate, has taken to Facebook to share her joy after receiving a permanent and pensionable (PnP) appointment letter from her county government, a milestone she described as completely unexpected.

The young professional said she had prayed for many things in life, but receiving a PnP letter at her age was never among them. In her own words, the appointment came as a surprise that left her overwhelmed with gratitude.

“I prayed for so many things, but a PnP letter at 24 years never crossed my mind. Am more than grateful to God today as I start this new journey to serve our county in a capacity I never thought of,” she wrote in her post.

Mbiyu Credits Governor for Believing in Her

Mbiyu singled out her boss, Governor Dr Kiarie Badilisha, for making the opportunity possible, saying his confidence in her abilities played a central role in her journey.

“To my boss, the Governor Dr Kiarie Badilisha, thank you for having immense trust in me, heavily believing in my capabilities and nurturing me to become. Forever Grateful,” she added.

At just 24, securing a permanent position in public service is a significant achievement for any young Kenyan, particularly at a time when graduate unemployment remains a pressing concern across the country.
