Kenyan media personality Ciku Muiruri has broken her silence after suffering what she describes as a brutal attack at her family’s farm in Thika, appearing in a video with a visibly swollen eye as she recounted the traumatic ordeal.

Speaking from her home in a composed but deeply emotional testimonial, Ciku said the incident took place on a Monday last week, when she found herself alone on the property as a large group forced their way in.

“I’ve been hit on my eye. I’ve been hit on my skull. Over here, over here, and over here,” she said, pointing to her injuries.

What happened at the Thika Farm?

Ciku says the farm, where her younger brother lives with his children and where her late father and grandmother are buried, has been the subject of a land dispute stretching back over three decades.

She alleges that a group she estimates at more than 100 men descended on the property, led by individuals she identified as Yusuf Ali and a Kalenjin man whose name she has yet to confirm, reportedly acting on behalf of a company called Floriculture.

After the group broke down the door, Ciku says she surrendered her laptop, phone and cash before retreating to her room in prayer.

“I have this Divine Mercy in my room, and I focus on it and I start saying, ‘Jesus, I trust in you.’ I do not stop,” she recounted.

A police officer on the scene then escorted her back inside to search for her car keys, but what followed left her shaken. “This guy grabs a crowbar, and he hits me on the head,” she said.

Attacker still free, Ciku says

Ciku has also pointed a finger at a neighbour identified as Lucas Kagwamba, owner of a building called Goigwa Thika View adjacent to the farm, accusing him of previously attempting to claim tenancy on the land through what she described as questionable agreements.

She further alleged that Floriculture had obtained eviction orders from the Business Premises Rent Tribunal, but that the tribunal chairman subsequently directed all related matters be consolidated before him and issued a stay of those orders. Despite the stay order reportedly being served to the OCPD Thika on the day of the incident, she claims the alleged invaders remain on the farm.

“You can’t go around assaulting people. You can’t just go around taking crowbars and smashing people in the face. I identified him and I said, ‘This is the guy.’ Has he been arrested? No,” she said.

Ciku confirmed she has filed a P3 form and has also instituted legal proceedings against the police and the Lands Commission over how the matter has been handled. She indicated she plans to release the full history of the Floriculture land dispute in a series of follow-up videos.
