An ordinary evening tea preparation turned into a horrifying final moment for an 89-year-old grandmother whose lifeless body was later discovered in a bush near her farm in Kiambu County.
Milka Nduta, popularly known as Wandiko or Shosho, was reportedly attacked by unknown assailants at her home in Itu-Kwara village, Gitwe sublocation, Kiganjo Ward, Gatundu South.
Attackers set elderly woman’s house on fire According to accounts shared by residents, the mother of seven had been in her kitchen preparing tea the previous evening when the attackers allegedly seized her.
In a particularly heartbreaking detail, her body was discovered still clutching the tea leaves she had been holding when she was attacked.
The disturbing incident reportedly did not end with her death. The attackers returned to her homestead, emptied water from her plastic storage tanks before setting both the tanks and her house on fire.
The inferno destroyed the dwelling and its contents, leaving behind melted remnants of the plastic tanks.
Residents demand investigations into Shosho’s murder

Following the gruesome discovery, residents appealed to the National Police Service and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to investigate the killing and establish the motive behind the attack.
They also called on the Kiambu County government, the Gitwe area chief and the OCS Kiganjo to ensure the matter receives urgent attention and that the perpetrators are apprehended.
As the community mourns the death of the elderly widow, questions remain about who could have targeted an 89-year-old woman in such a brutal manner.
