While most people agree love implies a strong mix of emotions, behaviors, and beliefs associated with strong feelings of affection, protectiveness, warmth, and respect for another person.
Arguably the heart wants what it wants, love doesn’t care whether someone is older or younger but the sad thing is we suddenly do.
In many cultures it’s not considered acceptable to fall in love with someone who is much older or younger than you.
Today societies are increasingly progressive and many people accept that love presents itself in so many ways. So why do people still judge when a younger man dates an older woman?
Living in a third-world country where the society holds a negative stigma towards age differences between couples causes people who find themselves in such a situation to think quite a lot about it.
And that is why when we start developing feelings for people outside of our age brackets, we think our feelings are wrong.
Dating an older woman should not be prohibited just because the woman has seen more days on earth it doesn’t mean that you can’t hold your stand and don’t know what you’re doing.
Don’t be dismayed, you’ve won half of your relationship battles if your goals for the relationship are the same.
This applies to same-age couples, things will be challenging if you’re not on the same page.
In addition to judging dating outside of our age ranges, society also assumes that we all age and mature at the same rate.
Furthermore, it is mistakenly believed that maturity comes with age, which is untrue. Maturity does not suddenly appear at the age of 25, rather, it is something that develops as a result of the events we encounter in life.
You may mature very early in life or you may never completely develop. People encounter experiences at various points in their life, some mature at a faster rate or slower rate than the average.
You can have a 30-year-old mindset if you are 20 years old, or vice versa. Someone does not automatically conform to a given status quo just because they are a certain age.
Age is just but a number. If you have found that special person in your life and you feel like you two are compatible don’t shy away because they’re older or younger.
Let the love do its enigmatic magic. Allow yourself to explore it and watch it flourish as you hope for the best.
