Mary Agnes Njambi, the mother to Central Bank of Kenya Governor Dr Patrick Njoroge and Catholic Archbishop Anthony Muheria has passed on.

Mrs Njambi’s family told Citizen Digital on Monday evening that the matriarch died while undergoing treatment at a Nairobi hospital after a long illness.

She has had an extensive career as a teacher and educationist.

Mary was married to Thomas Ngugi and they had eight children.

Her family described her as an outstanding Lay Catholic leader and community mobilizer who bore her illness with great heroism.

“She was outstanding in her courage and having mentored her children in diligence. May God rest her soul in eternal peace,” they said.
