Lawrence Njuguna Wagura, popularly known as DJ Fatxo, has once again come out to discuss the unfortunate death of his friend Jeff Mwathi.

Mwathi died after falling off the apartment where Fatxo lived, triggering an investigation that saw his body exhumed following public outcry.

The deceased was buried a week after his death, but concerned Kenyans pointed an accusing finger at Fatxo, blaming him for the death of the young man.

The outcry was so loud that the government through Interior CS Kithure Kindiki ordered for an investigation, directing homicide detectives to follow the matter to the end.

DJ Fatxo was at the centre of the investigations as Mwathi was last seen in his house in Roysambu before he plunged 7 floors down and died.

Fatxo had left the house in the company of two ladies, leaving behind Jeff in the company of his (Fatxo) cousin and driver.

This meant that the two were also the centre of investigations as they were in the same house with Mwathi when he fell and died.

The DCI investigations, however, exonerated the DJ, and by extension his cousin and driver, pointing to a possible suicide by the deceased.

Despite this, a section of Kenyans believe Mwathi was killed, and have continued to point an accusing finger to the three.

And now Fatxo has once again denied any involvement in Mwathi’s death, even going ahead to defend his cousin and driver.

In an interview with Comedian Obinna, Fatxo said since the incident happened, he has not seen his cousin and driver face to face, and they have never even talked on phone.

“I have never seen them na macho yangu hivi toka venye hii mambo ilihappen. Sijawahi waona na macho yangu. Sijawahi ongea na wao kwa sababu simu zetu zilichukuliwa na DCI,” Fatxo said.

He added: “If they were involved believe me wangeshikwa. Even the CCTV shows after I left the house they came looking for me if I had passed out in the car.”

Fatxo went ahead to reveal some of the CCTV details that the DCI relied on to exonerate him from the incident.

He said one of the footage shows Mwathi falling while holding his phone in the hand, an indication he had not been pushed as claimed.

The DJ further delved into some of the areas the investigators looked at to arrive at their conclusion. These included every claim made on Mwathi’s body when he was found.

On claims Jeff’s pants had been pulled down, Fatxo says investigators concluded that it was either as a result of the grills where he allegedly squeezed himself, or the velocity as he went down from 10th floor, as his clothes acted as a parachute.

He also said investigators looked at the claims Mwathi may have been sexually assaulted. They took swabs after his body was exhumed, and all the tests returned negative.

Fatxo rubbished claims that he sacrificed Mwathi through his cousin and driver, maintaining he is innocent and had nothing to do with his death.
