Another advocate client bill of costs has been filed at the Mombasa Law Courts against Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa.
Lawyer Danstan Omari wants the Gender, Culture, Arts and Heritage CS to pay him Ksh.9,860,000 for representing her in a murder case.
The fees will cover the costs of instructions to represent Jumwa in the High Court criminal case No. E011 of 2020, perusing the state’s affidavit in opposition to bail and filing and drafting a notice of motion application under a certificate of urgency.
In the case, Jumwa was charged with murder. However, the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions later dropped the charges against Jumwa and she was made a prosecution witness.
Earlier, Omari sought Ksh.17.4 million as costs for representing Jumwa in another case where she had been charged with corruption.
Court papers filed at the Mombasa Law Courts showed the lawyer demanding Ksh.10 million as fees to cover instructions to represent Jumwa in the corruption case.
An additional Ksh.1.4 million is for drafting and filing submissions, notices of motion, and receiving and perusing a letter from the DPP and another Ksh.3 million is for attending court for hearings and mentions.
Other costs will cover printing, binding and telephone services.
In the case, Jumwa and seven others had been charged with conspiracy to commit an offence
