Peter Mumo Mutuku is said to have stolen Sh327,000 from the Cooperative Bank at Stima Plaza in Nairobi.

A 33-year-old man was on Monday arraigned before Milimani Law Courts where he was charged with stealing.

Peter Mumo Mutuku is said to have stolen Sh327,000 from the Cooperative Bank at Stima Plaza in Nairobi.

The bank account was in the name of Koki and Associates.

The offence was allegedly committed on March 10, 2021.

In the alternative, he is also charged with handling stolen property contrary to the law.

“Peter Mumo Mutuku on March 10, 2021, at Cooperative Bank, Stima Plaza Branch in Nairobi County within the Republic of Kenya otherwise than in the course of stealing dishonestly received or retained Sh327,000 knowing or having reason to believe it to be stolen money,” the charge sheet reads in part.

Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe, Mutuku denied the charges.

He pleaded for release on lenient bond terms.

The court released him on a Sh300,000 bond with a surety of the same amount or cash bail of Sh200,000 with two contact persons.
