Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has said that he has no ambition to vie for the Nairobi Governor seat at the moment.

He said that Kenyans chose him to represent Nairobi as the senator and he will do his role diligently.

Speaking on Monday on The Andrew Kibe show, he said that Kenyans will judge him by his performance and give him whatever seat he desires.

“I have no intention of being a governor now, I was given a job to be the Senator of Nairobi and I will do it to the best of my ability so that one day they say there was a Nairobi Senator. That is my only intention, these other things are secondary,” he said.

Sifuna said that based on a leader’s performance, Kenyans won’t hesitate to reward them with the top seat which is the presidential seat.

He said Kenyans choose leaders based on their capacities and ability to articulate issues that impact them.

Sifuna was elected the Nairobi Senator in the 2022 Kenyan general election.

He is also the secretary general of the Orange Democratic Movement Party and the deputy minority whip in the Senate.

In the 2017 Kenyan general election, Sifuna expressed his interest to vie for the Kanduyi Member of Parliament seat on an ODM Party ticket.

However, he was unsuccessful during the primaries in April.

In 2017, Sifuna was fronted by ODM as their preferred candidate to contest the Nairobi senatorial.

He lost the seat to the current Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.

In the 2022 Kenyan general election, Sifuna once again contested the Nairobi Senator and clinched the seat.

In February 2023, he assumed the role of deputy minority whip in the Senate.
