A fire incident in Kerugoya, Kirinyaga County, has resulted in the destruction of property of unknown value. James Karigu, the chairperson of the Kirinyaga Jua Kali Association, reported that several stores in the Miringa-iri area were razed down.
Karigu suspects arson, noting that the fire erupted shortly after the security guards left the premises in the morning.
This incident follows a break-in at one of the affected garages less than a month ago, during which tools and spare parts worth millions of shillings were stolen. Traders have expressed their distress over these repeated incidents and have called on the police to investigate the fire thoroughly and apprehend those responsible.
The community is urging for increased security measures to prevent further occurrences.
