Police in Mombasa are investigating a disturbing incident where an employee of the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) was attacked with acid in Likoni. The employee suffered serious burns and is currently hospitalized.
The motive behind the attack remains unknown as investigations are ongoing.
According to the victim, who works in the Ferry Services security department, he was on his way home in the Almirage area when two men on a motorcycle approached them.
The motorcycle had been trailing them for some time before one of the men poured a chemical on the victim’s face from close range, causing severe burns.
The victim was initially taken to Shelly Beach Hospital before being transferred to Aga Khan Hospital in Mombasa, where he is in stable condition.
The suspects, the rider and the pillion passenger, fled the scene after the attack. Police are actively searching for them to determine their identity and motive for the attack.
In another incident in Nairobi, a group of approximately 20 individuals raided a construction site on Riverside Drive, stealing construction materials and injuring five guards on duty.
Some of the guards were armed with AK47 rifles, while others had crude weapons. The attackers also stole CCTV cameras and footage from the site before escaping in a lorry. Police are investigating the incident and reviewing CCTV footage from neighboring houses and roads to identify the perpetrators.
