Media Personality Njambi Koikai also known as Jahmby has succumbed from endometriosis complications.

Friends and family confirmed her death on Tuesday morning while she was receiving treatment in the Nairobi Hospital.

Njambi was diagnosed with Thoracic endometriosis, which is a rare but extreme condition that manifests by the presence of endometriosis in or around the lung and requires specialist treatment.

The media personality had publicly appealed for blood donations type O+ on her instagram – just three days before her demise.

“Hi fam, I’m currently admitted at the pioneer ward Nairobi hospital and I kindly need Blood O positive. Kindly asking for blood donors for Mary Njambi Koikai,” she wrote.

The radio presenter, turned reggae MC had been sharing her endometriosis struggles online and received immense support from her fans. She opened up on her two-decade struggle with Endometriosis and Adenomyosis, which she previously said led to her political ambitions in 2022. She contested for the Dagoretti South MP seat, which she lost.

Endometriosis is a condition where layers of the tissues that normally cover the uterus, grows outside it especially on the fallopian tubes, ovaries and tissues around the uterus and the ovaries causing immense pain.

Symptoms of endometriosis vary from person to person, but typically include extreme period pain that prevents you from carrying out your day-to-day activities, heavy periods, and pain during or after sex.

In an interview with Citizen Digital, Njambi narrated how the battle with the diseases affected her to the point where she lost jobs, friends, relationships and even some of her organs.

“I will always be grateful for the support but unfortunately the tissues has spread to my teeth, heart, appendix and spine,” she shared.

The Reggae MC, recounted how the disease eventually saw her seek treatment abroad.

Overseas treatment

After enduring painful periods for about two decades, Njeri suffered a lung collapse and was forced to take specialized treatment in the United States of America.

According to her, she was diagnosed with Stage IV Endometriosis, catamenial pneumothorax with diaphragmatic endometriosis, sigmoid and rectovaginal endometriosis, and abnormal appendix.

In a previous Post on her social media post, the renowned media personality noted that the condition can be unpredictable and never thought she would spend two years abroad seeking treatment.
