This morning, Harambee Stars had a practice session at Bingu Stadium in Malawi ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifier match against Ivory Coast on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, scheduled for 4 pm EAT. This will be the second qualifier match for coach Engin Firat’s team, who previously had a disappointing 1-1 draw with Burundi.

The Kenyan team faces a significant challenge to progress to the next stage of the World Cup Qualifiers. They currently have two points, trailing Gabon by two points and AFCON champions Ivory Coast by five points.

In their recent tense qualifier match against Burundi, Harambee Stars displayed moments of dominance but ultimately had to settle for a draw. Kenya took the lead in the second half with a goal from Singinda FC’s Duke Abuya in the 72nd minute.

However, Burundi equalized about ten minutes later when substitute Sudi Abdalla capitalized on a defensive error by Daniel Anyembe, rounded off goalkeeper Patrick Matasi, and tapped the ball into an empty net.
