A Mombasa businessman is seeking assistance from Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome to regain access to his property, claiming he was forcibly evicted. Madhubuti, the director of Lamu Marine and Allied Product Limited, spoke to the media in Mombasa, protesting the alleged eviction from his multimillion-shilling property, which he says he has owned since 1983. The property is valued at Sh200 million.

According to Madhubuti, an official search conducted by the police in collaboration with the Ministry of Lands confirmed his ownership of the contested property.

“I have been illegally evicted from my property. They took me away and began to intimidate me. They also deployed goons and put them on our property,” Madhubuti said.

Aggrieved Madhubuti questioned why some police officers were used during the eviction yet a search conducted by the police showed he was the bona fide owner of the property.
He claimed that the police confirmed at the land registry the property in question belonged to Lamu Marine and Allied Product Limited.

“I won the case in September 2023, the Court of Appeal ordered that the
suit property be recovered by Lamu Marine. Suddenly, they came and broke my locks and evicted me,” said Madhubuti.

“I want the director of investigations to take my file from Makupa Police Station,” he said.
He also appealed to the national government to intervene on the matter and help get his property.
