In the wee hours of Sunday morning, police in Nairobi’s Pangani shot and fatally injured a suspected robber.
The suspect had just been released from prison a week prior where he was held on robbery allegations.
“He has been arrested not once or twice but manages to pay bond and is released,” an officer told Nairobi News.
The officer said the suspect was shot just moments after he attacked a pregnant woman within the Mlango Kubwa area at gunpoint.
The woman would later call for help and police officers who were within the vicinity decided to chase after him.
On realising that he was being trailed by officers he allegedly pulled out the gun and started shooting randomly.
However, he was shot and died on the spot.
His body was taken to City Mortuary by a land cruiser belonging to Pangani Police Station.
Meanwhile, in Umoja estate police have launched a manhunt for a robbery suspect who is only identified by his alias, Rama.
This is after Rama was captured in a CCTV footage stealing from a reveler who had dosed off inside a joint.
Police say he usually operates within Bee Center as well and locals have severally raised concerns about him.
An officer said, “This is not the first time he is being sought by police and he has severally been arrested and gets released after paying bond.
This comes at a time when the city has an additional police officers who have been recruited to deal with robbery and muggings.
Nairobi County police boss Adamson Bungei has in the past warned youth who engage in robbery.
“The youth should engage in better things that can make life better. They should seize engaging in crime,” he once told the media.
