President William Ruto has condemned the assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump.

In a social media post, Ruto described the incident as both shocking and heinous.

“On behalf of the people and government of the Republic of Kenya, I wish to add my voice to those condemning the recent attempted assassination of former U.S. President Donald J. Trump,” reads part of the statement.

Ruto sent his sympathies to President Trump, his family, and the families of the victims of the attack.

“In these troubling times, I take this opportunity to recommit to the democratic ideals we share with the people of the United States of America. Wishing Trump a speedy and full recovery,” he added.

An investigation is underway into the assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump, who appeared at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Monday.

Trump was shot in the ear during a campaign rally on Saturday, leaving his face streaked with blood. Security agents quickly surrounded him before he reemerged, pumping his fist in the air and mouthing the words “Fight! Fight! Fight!”

The Secret Service reported that the shooter was dead, one rally attendee was killed, and two other spectators were injured.
