Sirisia MP John Waluke has urged President William Ruto to take decisive action against those who exploit protests to vandalize and loot property. Speaking in Sirisia on Monday, Waluke warned that unchecked protests could lead to significant damage in Kenya, as some individuals have hijacked the objectives of the Gen Z movement for their own destructive purposes.
“Is this country theirs? We were also once Gen Zs like them. Who do they think they are?” posed Waluke.
He also said that the president has responsibility to protect the Constitution by ensuring that the law is upheld and that he should not continue to let protests rule.
“Cancel everything, do not give these people room to hold protests. What are protests for? Even if it is in the constitution, it can be barred because of destroying property,” Waluke said, accusing lobby groups of sponsoring protests.
“Who is Gen Z? We are supporting Ruto to stop tomorrow’s (Tuesday) protests once and for all.”
The anti-government protests that have been taking place for over a month have been occurring on Tuesdays.
Today, protesters had planned to storm the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi.
