A group of Boda boda riders has pledged to halt anti-government protests. On Tuesday, they were seen patrolling the Nairobi Central Business District, calling for peace.

The riders, moving in an organized manner with horns blaring, were also spotted with one carrying a passenger holding a placard that read, “We also have a right to work #stop demos.”

They voiced their belief that the youth should allow President William Ruto time to address their grievances. One rider said, “President apewe time afanye kazi. Amewasikiza ya kutosha wacheni afanye kazi na awajibike” (Give the President time to work. He has heard you so give him time to work and be accountable).

The riders chanted for peace, “Amani, amani,” as they took control of the CBD, preventing Gen Z protesters from dominating the area. By noon, business continued as usual with buses following their regular routes.

Tuesday’s protests were expected to focus on Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, but Acting Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja had warned against this, emphasizing that JKIA is a protected area and off-limits to unauthorized individuals.
