Investigations have been launched into the deaths of a couple from Rare village in the Lari area, who perished in a house fire.

Preliminary reports suggest that Peter Kimani Kuria and Mirriam Muthoni, who were husband and wife, died when their home caught fire while they were asleep. Neighbors believe the fire was caused by an electrical fault, noting recent power outages in the area.

Benjamin Gatambia, a neighbor, reported that Peter Kimani’s body was found burned beyond recognition in their bedroom. Mirriam Muthoni’s body was discovered near the main door, indicating she may have tried to escape during the fire.

The bodies were taken to the City Mortuary after the incident. Gitithia Location Chief Samuel Kahoro confirmed the occurrence and stated that investigations are ongoing. He also mentioned plans to follow up with Kenya Power and Lighting Company to audit property losses and address the power outages that led to the tragedy.
